Messing with geosages are a headache at this point in the game so that's not recommended either. Anyway, the light purple panels are all no entries, so in effect it's forcing you to go around in a spiral to reach the red panel while that old geezer in the middle pelts you with Star. But not anymore! Though it is true this is new game plus, you can do this first time through if you just have a mage with a level 2 magic spell and some mastery in wand. The blue panels are no long range attack and the red panels are silence, so you need to aim for the green panel when throwing your mage around and have her snipe the panel from there.
