Ja Re Ja O Harjaai--Kaalicharan--1976

This beautiful number, with playback of Lata ji, is from film-maker Subhash Ghai's 1976 directoral debut 'Kaalicharan', with music of Kalyanji-Anandji & lyrics of Raj Kavi Inderjeet Singh Tulsi. The movie, that starred Shatrughan Sinha & Reena Roy in leading roles, had gr8 performance by Ajit saab...as a villain and his dialogue 'Saara Shehar Mujhe Lion ke Naam se Janta Hai' turned out to be a big hit and thereafter Ajit saab came to be known as Lion (Laayaan). BTW, Kalicharan's success transformed Shatrughan Sinha from a successful villain to hero and lead to his pairing with Reena Roy as his romantic interest in future movies. In real-life too he was involoved romantically with Reena although he l8r married his girlfriend Poonam and Reena got maaried to Pakistani cricketer Mohsin Khan. Reena's marriage didn't work out well, and after couple of years in Pakistan she returned to India. The lyricist, Raj Kavi Inderjit Singh Tulsi, of this movie hit big-time with one of the gr8st numbers of all time--Le Jaayenge le jaayenge dilwale dulhaniya le jaayenge, from Shashi Kapoor-Mumtaz 1974 superhit 'Chor Machaye Shor', that also has another gr8 number 'Ghunghroo Ki Tarah Bajta Hi Raha Hoon' by Kishore 'da. BTW, Tulsi saab's brother KTS Tulsi was the Solicitor General of India one time.
