This super-hit and melodious number is from comedian Mehmood saab's 1974 directoral debut 'Kunwara Baap', with playback of Rafi saab & Mehmood saab & music composition of Rajesh Roshan.
This was a pioneer song that brought enunchs into mainstream, for the first time, in Hindi cinema, and along with other songs from this movie proved to be so popular that the music director Rajesh Roshan was flooded with offers following its stupendous success.
Mehmood saab, an artist par excellence, gave break to Pancham 'da (Rahul Dev Burman, legendary music director Burman Dada's son) in his first production venture 1961 movie 'Chhote Nawab'. The song 'Ghar aaja ghir aaye badra saawareiyaan' from this movie in Lata ji's voice is quite a classical number and a treat in itself to hear.
Also, Mehmood saab excelled in movies like 1966 comedy 'Pyaar Kiye Jaa' and Jyoti Swaroop directed and Sunil Dutt-Saira Banu-Mehmood-Kishore Kumar starrer 1968 laugh-riot 'Padosan'. He also gave a leading role to, the then struggling, Amitabh Bachchan & Aruna Irani in 1971 hit 'Bombay To Goa'. During his struggling period, Big B in fact use to live in Bombay with Mehmood saab's younger brother Anwar Ali.
